Yousiff Yaseen
Show at my loft 5/12 with Yousif Yaseem, Miriam Elhajli, and Justin Nash Fisher. Paintings by studiomate Elizabeth Slayton.
Yousif Yaseen
I met Yousif Yaseen, Kuwaiti singer/songwriter, at one of my loft events and we decided to get together a little show while his family is in town for his graduation. He invited a couple of very talented artists to shape the evening, and as usual, I’ll play a few songs to get things started. Should be a lovely time. https://www.facebook.com/events/1466844006940075/
In the Dunes
I walked through Provincetown after we died
Sat on that bench where we used to smoke marijuana
Rented the cottage we stayed at in 2008, got up early and
Went for a run where Freddie Mercury rode his bicycle
Hired a drag queen to drive me around in a convertible
So I could fall asleep in the sun next to a well dressed woman
I wore all black to tea dance and twirled around with the boys until last call
Fell asleep hugging my pillow
I wandered out into the dunes alone in darkness
We never made it there together, you and I
But this is where I imagine you are now, in some sandy moonlit crater
On a towel with champagne and Portuguese sweet bread

Forro Party
Friday 4/24/15. I rarely go traditional partner dancing, but when I do it will be after several caipirinhas at my loftspace to the sounds of Boston’s finest forró musicians. It would be lovely to see you. https://www.facebook.com/events/490399341109308/

Mixing At Doom
NYC retreat to see great friend and producer Chris McLaughlin. He mixed our two years of experimental 1867 Recording Studio sessions here at Doom, a stunning mix room that overlooks the city.
Trimtab Lecture Notes
Handout from last night’s trimtab lecture/performance. Photos by the wonderful Sophie Greenspan.
Trimtab
Stunning poster for created for the event this Thursday (thanks trimtab!). I checked the forecast, and it shows a sun (not a snowflake) on 2/19. Luckily the building is tall, so it sticks out of the snowbanks. It would be lovely to see you.

trimtab_004: In-Studio Lecture/Performance 2/19
Hello. So trimtab is a new series where experimental musicians do a short lecture & performance in their own studio environment. I was invited to do one (yay!). Anyway, I’ll be talking about my approaches to composition, recording, and my experimentation with the harp. Most importantly, I’ll be sharing/discussing some of the recordings on my upcoming record (probably fewer than five people have heard any of these). It would be lovely to see you.

Music Video
With final mixing date all set for my little record, I am now free to work on the music videos! I spent the blizzard with beach footage of the achingly exquisite and kind John Lam, principal dancer in the Boston Ballet, who I am incredibly honored to have had dance to my music. Jeannie and I shot this in September at Hampton Beach, the day of both severe thunderstorms and, unfortunately, a Seafood Festival (lots of people wearing lobster claw antenna hats we had to avoid shooting). Despite that, we still made stunning things happen:) Some draft stills of John, video should be done soon.
